1  And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.   (KJV)

1)   Then heard the Apostles and the brothers -- being down in 

       Judea -- that also the ethnic nations 

       took - accepted - received the intelligent word of GOD.

2  And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,   (KJV)  

2)   And when at what time Peter ascended up - went up

       into Jerusalem,

       those out of Circumcision

       distinguished and judged / strove with and disputed 

       up alongside with him,

3  Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.   (KJV) 

3)   Laying down definite words, saying,

          "Because up alongside with men of uncircumcision

            you having come, (you) went in,

            and you ate (and had communion) with them!"

4  But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,   (KJV) 

4)   Then, beginning (a narration), 

       Peter put out / explained to them 

       down in successive following order,

       laying down definite words, saying,

5  I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:   (KJV) 

5)      "I was being in (the) city of Joppa,

           praying up alongside  / praying [to GOD].

           And behold, look and see!

           I, in a tranced removal of the mind

           so as it was as if it stood out and away from itself,

           saw a visual spectacle - supernatural appearance / vision.

          A certain implement descending and coming down 

          out of the heaven, so as in what manner like
          a great white linen sail or sheet
          being let down by 4 corners out of the heaven;
          and it came forth so as to appear continually until
          [it was down before and in front of]   me:

6  Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.    (KJV) 

6)        Into which straining and gazing intently at,
            I deeply thought - contemplated in (my) mind,
            and I saw and beheld the quadrupeds of the Earth, 
            and the  [unclean]  wild bestial animals,
            and the  [unclean]  creeping reptiles
            and the flying birds and fowl of the heaven.

7  And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.   (KJV) 

7)       Then I intently heard a voice 
           laying down definite words to me, saying,
              'Rise up Peter,
               sacrifice - ritually slay    
               and eat.'

8  But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.   (KJV) 

8)       Then I said, 
              'But not even someone (like me) LORD,
               because   of any kind common (to all) - defiled -
               unconsecrated - ceremonially unclean
               certainly never came and entered 
               into the mouth of me.'

9  But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.   (KJV) 

9)       Then discerningly a voice answered me a second (time)
           out of the heaven,
              'That which GOD has purified and (ceremonially) 
               cleansed, 
               you may not commonize - unconsecrate - defile.'

10  And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.   (KJV) 

10)       Then it happened / it came into being
             upon 3 (times),
             and together all were drawn and pulled up
             back again once more into the heaven.
             (AWPR)

11  And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.   (KJV) 

11)       And behold, look and see;
             out from this (time) forthwith / immediately - at once 
             3 men stood at (and) upon the house in which I was,
             having been sent forth out from Caesarea 
             up alongside next to me.
             (AWPR) 

12  And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting.  Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:   (KJV) 

12)       Then the Spirit said to me to go and pass through
             with them, deciding - judging no one.

             Then came forth and appeared publicly together with me
             these 6 brothers also,  and we came and entered 
             into the house of the man.

13  And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

13)       And he announced and made known to us
             in what manner or way how (that) he saw 
             and perceived the angel standing as set in place
             in the house of him,
             and saying to him,
                'Send forth out men into Joppa,
                 and send forth into the midst of for  /  call for
                 a certain one, Simon, the (one) 
                 surnamed / called upon  (as) Peter;

14  Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.   (KJV) 

14)          Who will speak at random up alongside with you,
                 in / by     which you and all the house of you
                 will be saved (from [eternal] loss and destruction).'
                 (AWPR)   

15  And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.   (KJV) 

15)       Then in my beginning to speak at random, 
             the Holy Spirit fell down upon them
             wholly as much - exactly like as     upon us 
             at (the) first
             [at Pentecost].*

16  Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.   (KJV) 

16)       Then I recalled  to mind - remembered
             the pronouncement - statement - spoken word
             of (the) LORD - of YHVeH,
             how He laid down definite words and said,
                'John indeed / truly baptized by immersion 
                 with running - flowing water;
                  then you will be baptized by immersion 
                  in (the) Holy Spirit.'

17  Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?   (KJV) 

17)       If possibly certainly thereupon,
             the equal and same free gift gratuitously 
             given them of GOD's own good will and accord
             (is) as also to us having believed - trusted 
             upon the LORD Jesus Christ.

             Then who was I 
             to cut off - dwarf - hinder - prevent GOD?'

18  When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.   (KJV) 

18)   Then intently listening and hearing these things,
         they quieted - stilled

         [from their judging and disputing.  Cf. verse 2]

         and glorified GOD,
         laying down definite words, saying,
             'Therefore then -  So then
              also to the ethnic nations GOD has 
              given of His own good will and accord
              a changing of the mind - a repentance into eternal life.'

19  Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.   (KJV)

19)   Certainly - Indeed   thereupon,
         they who were dispersed - scattered as seed
         from the severe crushing and pressing 
         Affliction - Tribulation     happening - occurring 
         over Stephen,**
         came and passed through  until - unto - as far as
         Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch [of Syria],
         speaking at random the intelligent word to no one 
         if possibly not - except     only alone to Jews.

20  And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.   (KJV)

20)   Then some of them were men,
         Cypriots and Cyrenians,
         anyone who coming and entering into Antioch
         spoke at random up alongside with the Hellenists,
         evangelizing / preaching and teaching the Gospel
         of the LORD Jesus.

21  And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.   (KJV) 

21)    And (the) LORD's hand / And YHVeH's hand
          was amongst - in the midst of  them,
          a great number believing - trusting
          turned about   [in repentance]
          upon the LORD  / upon YHVeH.

22  Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.  (KJV) 

22)   Then the intelligent word was intently heard and listened to
         into the ears of the  Ekklesias - the Church - the Called Out Ones
         in Jerusalem   round about / concerning     them.

         And they sent out forth Barnabas to come and pass through
         until - unto - as far as   Antioch.

23  Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.   (KJV)

23)   Who having come to be (present) 
          and seeing the grace of GOD,
          in gladness rejoiced,

          and called / exhorted  all  in the proximity -
          and encouraged all nearby, 

          with plans and purpose of heart set before (them)
          to stay - remain - continue      abiding / dwelling 
          with the LORD.

24  For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.   (KJV) 

24)    Because He was a good and benevolent man,
          full - complete - abundant  of (the) Holy Spirit
          and of faith.

          And an abundant / sufficient  
          crowd - multitude - throng  (of common people)
          was put - set - added  up alongside
          to the LORD.

25  Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:   (KJV)

25)    Then came out and went forth Barnabus into Tarsus
          to diligently seek Saul:
          (AWPR)   

26  And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.   (KJV)

26)    And finding him, 
          he led along - brought - conducted him into Antioch.

          Then it came into being    an abundant / sufficient
          crowd - multitude - throng  (of common people)
          were led along and gathered together to them,
          and they (orally) taught - instructed  a whole year
          in the Ekklesia - the Church.

          And the disciples - pupils - learners   made use of
          
          [made use of -  in business, trade, and audience]

          and were named Christians 
          first of all - chiefly - especially (at)
          in Antioch.

27  And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.   (KJV)

27)    Then in these days descended and came down from Jerusalem,
          prophets into Antioch.

28  And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.   (KJV) 

28)     Then one out of them having risen up, by name, Agabus, 
           gave a remarkable - considerable  public sign
           through the Spirit  (that) a great famine - starvation  
           by necessity was appointed - destined - required 
           to take place,  coming into existence 
           over the whole inhabited Earth  -- anyone who also 
           came into being / existence - happened upon
           [these years during the reign of]
           Claudius Caesar.

29  Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:   (KJV) 

29)   And the disciples - learners - pupils,
         as according to as   who - which   was prosperous,
         marked out - determined - appointed
         each and every one (separately)   of them
         into / toward    
         ministry - ministration - charitable relief 

         [of service, provision, hospitality]

         to send forth out - dispatch  to those brothers 
         living in permanent fixed dwellings   in the Judea.

30  Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.   (KJV) 

30)    Which also they did - caused - brought about - performed
          sending out up alongside with the 
          presbyters - the elders   
          through (the) hand of Barnabas and Saul.

      2)    And (it) came into being (that) suddenly and without warning,

      out of Heaven a resounding echo sounding exactly like

      violent blowing as a rushing mighty wind

      (in resounding echoes);

      and it completely filled all the House
